At only 880 SF the Latham House is Nelcons’ smallest project, but the design of this small 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom packs a punch.
Designed to meet passive house regulations, the Latham house energy consumption is 80% lower than that of conventional buildings while still allowing for a comfortable environment.
Latham House is located on an urban infill lot in Pittsburgh’s East End and was Module housing’s first build. It was designed for the client’s parents, who wanted a home that could support aging in place. The interior includes a transition-less polished concrete floor, natural maple, soapstone surfaces, and a natural pine ceiling. The home was designed using Passive House Principles and is Zero Energy Ready Home certified.
Once the foundation and slab on grade were in place, the high-performance envelope, manufactured off-site and trucked in from out of state, was assembled on-site in just two days.
